Wind Turbines at Sunset – North Sea

North Sea wind turbine framed by pastel skies and calm waters, a striking image of offshore renewables.
Single turbine standing against a fading pink and blue horizon, capturing the quiet beauty of offshore energy.

The offshore wind farm never looks the same twice. These images were taken as the light shifted across the horizon, washing the turbines in soft pastels and golden tones. From the bold streaks of orange cutting through the sky to the delicate calm of mist on the water, the colours showcase just how changeable – and dramatic – the North Sea can be.

Out here, the turbines rise like markers against the endless sea and sky. Whether captured in sharp evening light or against the faint haze of dawn, they carry a quiet strength – a reminder of how industry and nature meet offshore.

As always, these moments are fleeting, and that’s what makes them worth capturing.

IJmuiden, Seaport Beach — Drone Photography, Netherlands

Golden hour drone image of IJmuiden seaport beach, sunset reflections on wet sand and silhouettes of breakwaters.

Golden hour over IJmuiden’s seaport beach gives light a rare softness — when metal, sand, and sea all respond with reflection. These drone shots capture that brief moment when the elements line up at the edge of sunset.

Port cranes and shipping structures glowing under sunset light at IJmuiden, capturing industrial silhouette.

Flying over the beach and port area, I watched how the light changes the textures — wet sand mirrors sky, breakwaters cast long silhouettes, shipping containers and cranes glow faintly in warm tones. Each image is about contrast: structure against horizon; calm water against the industrial edges of the seaport. Golden hour makes everything more dramatic without forcing it.

Combination of natural and industrial in IJmuiden: sand, sea walls and warm sunset light at seaport edge.

These images are part of my ongoing exploration of shorelines and port environments. For more coastal and industrial drone work, see my Drone and Wind Industry galleries.

Hello,

Today i would like to share some images of the setting sun in the North sea.

I have been lucky in my time offshore to see some amazing weather.

A spectacular sun rise, or setting sun in the middle of the sea is something really magical.

Hello how are you?

Have you had a good festive period.

Thats it all over and back to normal for me now.

Q. What is the difference with the above images?

A. About half an hour..

It is amazing how waiting can have such a difference to your images.

In half an hour the sky semi cleared, even look at the sea, waves calmed down and the setting sun caught the clouds nicely.

So please take your time, slow down, bag the image and then wait till the suns gone as you never know how mother nature will react…

Have a great weekend.
